MediLearning goes international with major expansion across Middle East and Africa

MediLearning International has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with DataFlow Group to provide continuing professional development (CPD) and continuing medical education (CME) courses to healthcare professionals (HCPs) across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

MediLearning is an affiliate of GreenCross Publishing, the publisher of the Medical Independent, Nursing in Practice Ireland, Irish Pharmacist, and Update.

In Ireland, the platform offers CPD/CME across three sites: doctorcpd.ie, nursecpd.ie, and pharmacistcpd.ie.

The MOU, signed on 11 August, makes MediLearning an official CPD/CME partner on DataFlow’s TrueProfile.io platform. The deal covers doctors, dentists, nurses, and pharmacists in the GCC.

DataFlow is the leading primary source verification provider used by regulatory authorities in the Middle East to validate the credentials of HCPs. The Group has over three million registered HCPs using its services.

MediLearning will initially provide more than 75 CPD modules accredited by the Dubai Health Authority, with plans to increase this to more than 150 modules within twelve months.

The agreement will provide HCPs with access to accredited learning through the TrueProfile.io platform, which is used for professional credential verification.

MediLearning has also launched a six-month pilot programme in Egypt with ACCESS Health International across 10 Egyptian Healthcare Authority (EHA) hospitals. The programme will reach about 1,650 doctors, with each hospital receiving a MediPro portal to track CPD activity and progress.

The pilot is intended to support a potential wider roll-out across the EHA.

MediLearning is also preparing to enter the Kenyan market, with accreditation applications underway with regulatory bodies in the country. It plans to exhibit at WHX Nairobi in September.

The expansion is designed to address gaps in CPD access and tracking across the GCC and Africa. CPD requirements and systems vary between countries, with some regulators requiring credits but offering limited digital options.

“With many in-person events being cancelled this year due to conflict in the region, the need for online CPD is more important than ever,” according to the founder and CEO of MediLearning International, Mr Graham Cooke.

“www.med-ilearning.eu allows the busy HCP to avail of online training courses, that can be accessed from home or the workplace, at a time that is convenient to them.

“On the administration, hospitals can’t often see compliance risks until HCP licences lapse, by which point it’s a regulatory and operational problem, not just an admin one. MediPro removes this problem as it keeps track of where every hospital staff member is with their CPD and houses all certificates earned in one dedicated portal.”

Mr Cooke said verification platforms like TrueProfile and hospital compliance tools like MediPro are “starting to close that gap, but regional standardisation is still years away”.
