Beaumont to open outpatient facility at Omni centre

By Mindo - 08th Jan 2019

Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, is planning to construct an outpatient department at Omni Park Shopping Centre, Santry, which is an approximate 10-minute drive from the hospital.

The works will involve the conversion and fit-out of three first-floor retail units, resulting in a single outpatient consulting suite at the Omni Park Shopping Centre, according to tender documents.

The budget for the work is estimated at “€500,000 and €700,000, exclusive of VAT”.

The tender documents also stated that the “successful tenderer identified by this competition will be required to undertake construction work involving the installation of partitions, doors, finishes, built-in fittings, sanitary fitting and mechanical and electrical installations”.

The Omni shopping centre and retail park on the Swords Road is a popular location for shoppers and cinema-goers in north Dublin. It has a free car park with up to 1,400 spaces, according to its website.

Beaumont recently advertised for a clinical nurse manager 2 (CNM 2) to assist in the establishment, co-ordination and operation of the planned outpatient unit at Omni. The post was advertised under the auspices of the hospital’s surgical directorate.

The CNM 2 would be required to provide leadership in the development of the outpatient service and ensure that clinics are managed efficiently.

Last year, more than 143,000 patients were seen in the outpatient department at Beaumont Hospital, which is located on an 18.2 hectare site in north Dublin. Each week there are 156 clinics covering numerous specialties.

Beaumont Hospital employs approximately 3,500 staff and has 820 beds. It is the principal teaching hospital for the RCSI.

The hospital refused to issue any comment to this newspaper concerning the plans.
