The 2025 ISR Spring Meeting, which took place in Sligo on 10-11 April, attracted one of the Society’s largest attendances to date.
ISR President Dr John Ryan, Consultant Rheumatologist, Cork University Hospital, thanked the local and national expert speakers, sponsors, and organisers, including ISR CEO Michael Dineen and his team “for all their hard work in making this excellent event happen”.
He gave a special thanks to Dr Killian O’Rourke for organising the academic sessions “and securing such great speakers”, and colleagues in Our Lady’s Hospital, Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim, for hosting a dedicated specialist trainee study day.
“It was a very engaging, enjoyable meeting and there were many highlights across the two days, including the update on myositis and the very valuable tips on treating challenging cases. Prof D’Cruz also gave great clinical tips on treating patients with neuro-psychiatric disease which challenges us all,” Dr Ryan said.
“It was also fantastic to hear from Prof McGonagle on what is happening at the forefront of arthritis and from Prof Gaine about the additional therapies for pulmonary hypertension and how best to identify these patients.”
Dr Ryan also praised the quality and breadth of research submissions. “The meeting was a great opportunity for our SHOs and regs to present cases to the wider community,” he said.
The ISR 2025 Autumn Meeting will take place on the 18 and 19 September in the Radisson Blu
Hotel, Little Island, Cork.
