Healthcare and industry professionals from across Ireland are being invited to attend the inaugural All-Ireland Clinical AI Congress and AI Tech Expo, a new national event focused on the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare. Hosted by Athena Pharmaceuticals in partnership with University College Dublin (UCD), knowledge partner Cloud21, and industry supporters, the free entry one-day Congress will take place on Saturday, 12 September 2026, from 8.30am to 4pm in O’Reilly Hall, UCD.
The event will bring together clinicians, healthcare leaders, academics, policymakers, industry, and technology innovators to examine how AI is transforming patient care, while addressing the governance, regulatory, and ethical challenges of its adoption. There will be a strong emphasis on practical, real-world implementation, showcasing how AI is already being deployed in hospitals, primary care, and pharmacy settings, as well as the implications for patient care and communications in Ireland and internationally.
The programme will feature senior leaders from the HSE, Irish hospitals, and international healthcare organisations, alongside an interactive AI Tech Expo showcasing technologies across radiology, prescribing, diagnostics, workflow optimisation, patient management, and clinical decision-making.
Speaking ahead of the Congress, Prof Peter Doran, Director of the UCD Clinical Research Centre and Professor of Clinical Trials at the UCD School of Medicine, said: “Artificial intelligence presents enormous opportunities to transform patient outcomes and clinical workflows, but its true value will only be realised when innovation is anchored in robust clinical evidence, sound trial methodology, and multidisciplinary governance.
“This Congress provides an essential national platform for clinicians and researchers to actively engage with deployed technologies and shape the safe, evidence-based adoption of AI across Ireland’s health system.”

Athena Pharmaceuticals is also inviting healthcare professionals to submit abstracts for the Congress poster competition. Up to 12 projects will be shortlisted, with €2,250 in bursaries available, including an award for the most outstanding innovation. The competition is open to healthcare professionals, including those in training or education, with submissions closing on 4 September 2026.
