I am delighted to welcome you to the March/April 2026 edition of the IAANMP Advanced Practice Supplement. This issue highlights the strength, leadership, and innovation of advanced nursing and midwifery practice across Ireland. We are pleased to introduce our newly appointed IAANMP Committee Officers for 2026, who join the existing committee in progressing the work of the Association and advancing ANP and AMP practice nationally.

This supplement also features several important developments, including the launch of the IAANMP Bursary Award in memory of ANP Trisha McKeown, international representation of IAANMP members at the International Council of Nurses (ICN) Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nurse Network (NP/APN Network Conference 2026, and our recent submission to the Department of Health on the Framework for Independent Nursing and Midwifery Practice aligned with ERB (expert body review) recommendations.
A key focus of this edition is the outstanding research, audit, and service innovation being led by our members, showcased through poster abstracts and practice-based scholarship. Together, these contributions demonstrate the real and measurable impact of advanced practice on patient care, access, and system sustainability.
We hope you enjoy this edition. As always, we welcome member engagement; please get in touch if you would like to be involved in future editions or IAANMP activities. Thank you to all who contributed to this edition and to the editorial team for their continued work in amplifying the voice of advanced practice in Ireland.
