As in previous years, the Gathering Around Cancer 2025 conference featured a line-up of presentations of exemplary quality from young researchers in a number of clinical areas.

Speakers on the first day included Dr Carolyn Lineen, St James’s Hospital, Dublin, who spoke on ‘Emerging strategies in cancer treatment’; Dr Marvin Lim, Beacon Hospital, Dublin, who spoke on ‘Novel mechanisms of resistance to enzalutamide in prostate cancer’.

Dr Zeeshan Zameer, Oxford University Hospital, UK, presented on ‘TebeMRD: Evaluating tebentafusp for early intervention in molecular relapsed melanoma’; while Dr Nadine Copty, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH), Dublin, discussed the diagnostic value of carcinoembryonic antigen in treatment-related neuroendocrine prostate cancer.

The second day of the conference saw an equally impressive series of talks, including Dr Maeve Hennessy, University of Chicago who delivered a talk titled ‘Breast cancer and the gut microbiome: Current evidence and future opportunities’; Ms Helen Hancock, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre (MSKCC), New York, US, whose presentation was titled ‘Prep the consents: The role of the advanced practice provider in clinical research’; and Dr Calvin Flynn, MMUH, who delivered a presentation on ‘Emerging strategies for KRAS inhibition in solid tumours’.
