The International Tuberculosis Campaign

By Mindo - 05th Oct 2021

The photographs from the archive of St Ultan’s Hospital show the work of the International Tuberculosis Campaign (ITC) in the 1940s and 1950s. A joint venture of UNICEF and voluntary organisations, the ITC ran testing and vaccination programmes across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The ITC vaccinated over eight million babies and nearly 14 million people.

This year, the RCPI’s annual St Luke’s Symposium will focus on the importance of global vaccination in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. The symposium will run online on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 October. Full details of the speakers and how to book can be found on www.rcpi.ie
