STUDENT HEALTH UNIT

Permanent Part Time Position (0.4 WTE)

Applications are invited for the post of part time consultant psychiatrist, in a 0.4 WTE
role, working at the Student Health Unit in the University of Galway. We are looking for
an enthusiastic, committed psychiatrist to join our dedicated student health team of
GPs, nurses, mental health support worker, physiotherapist and administrative staff.
Reporting to the Medical Director of Student Health Unit, the successful candidate will
be expected to deliver expert clinical care, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality
psychiatric service for students at the University of Galway. It is anticipated that the
post would involve a 5 session/week commitment during term time (September-May),
with a 2-3 session/week commitment outside of term (June-August).

As well as having experience as a consultant psychiatrist, the appointee will be expected
to have a team-orientated approach, committed to ongoing professional learning and a
lead in engaging with the wider student welfare team to provide unified mental health
care to students. Previous experience of working in a 3rd level Student Health setting is
desirable.
