The power to solve laptop power problems

Over time, connectors start to deteriorate due to wear and tear and sometimes power cords have to be held a certain way, or at an angle, to maintain a power connection.

Occasionally, the problem stems directly from the power jack/DC jack — the port on your laptop where the power supply connects. Signs of this part being compromised include: the power supply having to be ‘wobbled’ to work; no power going to the laptop; or if the part feels loose or sunken back into the body of the laptop.

This part is generally replaceable or repairable — depending on the damage and the make and model of the laptop. A good computer technician should be able to diagnose the source of the problem, either power jack or faulty laptop charger, by a quick examination and on-the-counter test.
