Review planned for Traveller health projects in south east

The Traveller Health Unit South East (THU SE), Community Healthcare Organisation (CHO) Area 5 covers five counties: Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and South Tipperary.

The THU SE is in the process of reviewing the work of the Traveller health projects. As part of this process, the THU SE is now seeking invites for tenders to carry out a review of the governance structures of the organisations funded under Section 39 of the Health Act 2004.

The brief involves working with the Regional Traveller Health Co-ordinator of the South East and the organisations which hold the grant aid agreement/service level agreement with the HSE to support them to evaluate their governance structures, review their policies and practices in line with best practice, and to ensure the sustainability of Traveller health projects into the future.

The review will be benchmarked against the National HSE Standards Safer Better Health Care, their service level agreement/grant aid agreement with the HSE and the voluntary code of governance.

In the south east area of Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Waterford and South Tipperary, there are eight organisations funded under Section 39 of the Health Act 2004, hosting 12 Traveller health projects.
