‘On their marks’ for Irish Kidney Association fun run

The charity fundraiser takes place at Corkagh Park, Dublin on Saturday, 20 May, and aims to raise awareness about the vital importance of organ donation and transplantation. At the photocall Ray was joined by 10-year-old Shannen Proudfoot (pictured right) from Nobber, Co Meath, who had a kidney transplant operation three years ago at Temple Street Children’s Hospital, Dublin, thanks to her donor, aunt Ann McGivney, whose donor operation took place at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.

Representing Children’s Liver Disease Ireland (CLDI) was Elizabeth Murphy (age 11) from Ballyboughal, Co Dublin. Elizabeth had a liver transplant when she was just five months old at King’s College Hospital London, while under the care of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. ‘Run for a Life’ is open to people of all ages with the option of walking, jogging or running competitively in either a chip timed 2.5km, 5km or 10km distance.
