The Minister for Health Simon Harris recently announced that he had invited the NAGP into negotiations over a new GP contract.
The Association held a ‘Think-In’ last weekend with National Council members to discuss a number of key issues affecting GPs.
“An NAGP sub-committee to oversee contract negotiations will be established by National Council in the coming weeks,” the Association said in a statement.
Topics covered at the weekend included GMS contract negotiations, retention of GPs, management of multi-morbidity patients in general practice and resourcing of general practice.
“We discussed the direction and focus for the organisation over the coming months,” said Mr Chris Goodey, NAGP CEO.
“Most importantly, our process of engagement with GPs on GMS contracts will begin this weekend.
“Our series of meetings kick off this Saturday in Dublin and Limerick. We are eager to get input from all GPs, regardless of membership status, on the terms and conditions of a new contract. We urge all GPs to attend the meetings.”
