“Following an open procedure tendering process, Happening Conferences and Events Ltd has been engaged on behalf of the HSE to event manage the Masterclass and to secure sponsorship for the event with the objective of making it cost-neutral to the organisation,” a HSE spokesperson told MI. “This is a very economical and cost-effective way for the HSE to host such an educational event.”
The Healthcare Leadership Masterclass for healthcare managers and leaders is a “learning and education event, which will provide an opportunity for senior healthcare leaders to learn from the experience and knowledge of experts at home and abroad”.
It is part of the Executive’s “overall commitment to employee training, development and education”, added the spokesperson.
The Masterclass is described by the HSE as a “key calendar event” for senior managers and leaders in the Irish health system and the wider business community “to come together to learn, to be challenged and to be inspired by acclaimed speakers in the area of health services improvement and health innovation”.
This year’s event takes place in the Convention Centre, Dublin, and attendance is “by invitation only”, according to the HSE website.
Speakers will include Dr Mark Britnell, Chairman and Partner, Global Health Practice, KPMG, who will present on global challenges and transformative forces to address these challenges; Prof Adrian Furnham, Professor of Psychology, University College London, who will speak on managing and motivating in disruptive times; and Mr Pat Lam, Head Coach of Connacht Rugby, who is to present on transformation through culture.
HSE Director General Mr Tony O’Brien and Minister for Health Simon Harris are also due to address the conference.
