GPs take to the Camino route to raise funds for Cappagh Hospital

The doctors and their travelling companions will tackle the Portuguese Camino coastal route, 115km over the week commencing 10 October, ending in Santiago.

“We are specifically raising funds for an active rehabilitation gym and the target is to raise €1,000 each for the cause, and more if possible,” Dr Scully told the Medical Independent.

Funds raised by the doctors will be donated to the Cappagh Hospital Foundation, which is funding the rehabilitation gym at the hospital’s active rehabilitation unit.

The new customised rehabilitation gym will provide a large, dedicated space for patients to complete their physiotherapy programmes, which will help them return to a more independent life.

The Foundation says it needs to raise €200,000 this year to fund the development.
