Minutes of an April RCSI Council meeting, seen by the Medical Independent (MI) following a Freedom of Information request, showed the Council talked about the possibility of bringing the exhibit to other parts of the country or making it permanent.
“The vision and concept for this event was developed over the course of two years,” read the minutes.
A RCSI spokesperson told MI that the exhibit had been visited by over 8,000 people when it was on show at the RCSI earlier this year. It is currently on the road, but there is no word on making it permanent.
“The ‘Surgeons and Insurgents – RCSI and the Easter Rising’ exhibition has been touring Dublin City Library locations since May, including the Lexicon Dun Laoghaire and Pearse Street Library, and it is currently located at Ballyfermot Library until the end of September,” said the RCSI spokesperson.
“Highlights of the exhibition will continue to feature at events in the College from time to time in the future.
“The final figure for members of the public who visited the exhibition at RCSI was 8,164.”
