Ms Liz Logan, Campaigns Manager with the Irish Cancer Society, said: “There are so many things you can do to challenge yourself, get active and also raise money to help fight against cancer. For people tired of more traditional running events – a mud run can be an exciting way to challenge yourself, have fun and also fundraise for the Irish Cancer Society.
“So sign up to do an extreme challenge event like ‘Hell and Back’ or ‘Run a Muck’ and choose to fundraise for the Irish Cancer Society. As more and more people are diagnosed with cancer, demand on our services continues to increase – we need more support now than ever before.”
According to the Society, thousands of people challenge themselves annually by getting their runners on to go the distance for the charity. Last year, just under 100 people took on a mud run, for example.
“When you join team Irish Cancer Society, you will also get support and training advice along with everything you need to transform yourself in 2015,” it added.
Some upcoming events it has highlighted include Run A Muck, 7 March, Co. Kildare; Hell & Back Hercules, 16 May, Co. Sligo; and Hell & Back Apollo, 13-14 June, Co. Wicklow.
