Arklow primary care centre to be built next year

A new PCC for the town was included in the most recent national advertisement seeking expressions of interest for the provision of primary care team accommodation through the HSE’s primary care operational lease mechanism.

The HSE has received expressions of interest and completed a review of the viable submissions leading to the selection of preferred provider and site.

According to a Parliamentary Question response issued by the HSE to Sinn Féin Deputy John Brady, the design process of the PCC has commenced.

A planning application is due to be submitted in the third quarter of 2017, with planning approval expected to be delivered at the beginning of next year.

Construction is expected to commence in 2018 with completion by the end of 2019.

Services to be provided at the centre will include general primary care provision as well as dental, addiction and mental health services.

In another response to Deputy Brady, the HSE said that two other centres for Co Wicklow are at different stages of development.

There are plans for a Rathdrum PPC, which will commence construction in mid-2017 and for a Greystones PPC, which is at the preferred provider selection stage.
